Other Tools

ISEAL’s Codes of Good Practice are the cornerstones of credible social and environmental standards systems.

ISEAL members also work together to develop additional guidelines to improve and streamline their operations. These, and the Codes, are often combined and described as Credibility Tools.

Group Certification

Group certification is a model of verification that makes certification more accessible for small-scale producers.

The ISEAL Common Requirements for the Certification of Producer Groups provide guidance for assessing compliance of groups of producers with a standard. The Common Requirements include criteria related to the operation and management of a group, and to the evaluation of that group by the certification body. The requirements might later become part of ISEAL's Assurance Code.

Training for Emerging Standards

The ISEAL Alliance provides assistance and information for new and emerging standards systems. Produced in 2007, the Emerging Standards Resource Kit is an excellent starting point for anyone trying to understand the intricacies of building a credible standards system.
