Overview: The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seeks a Communications Director for its Americas Regional Office. MSC is the world’s leading certification and eco-labeling program for wild capture fisheries. Through its certification and labeling program, the MSC contributes to reversing decline in global fish stocks by identifying and rewarding and creating marketing incentives for sustainable fisheries.

The Communications Director, Americas is responsible for leading the definition and implementation of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy for the Americas region, in conjunction with the MSC's global communications and marketing strategy. The Communications Director will engage with current clients and stakeholders and is responsible, together with other staff, for ensuring effective information and support to participants in the MSC program. In addition, the Communications Director will develop strategies and materials to help engage potential partners, clients and stakeholders, as well as members of the public. The Communications Director is expected to have strong internal working relationships, and build and maintain successful external relationships with members of the seafood industry, conservation organizations and other stakeholder groups. Media relations, issue management and crisis communications are all key components of the role.

The job holder will be an integral part of the senior MSC Americas’ regional team and will participate in the collective management and strategic development and actions of the organization in the region.

This is a strategic and hands-on role with huge potential to make a real difference. It requires poise and maturity; exceptional writing, presentational and communication skills; extensive communications leadership experience; excellent organizational, management and supervisory experience; proven leadership skills; and the ability to manage multiple obligations simultaneously.
