UTZ CERTIFIED – Our newest Full Member!

UTZ CERTIFIED offers coffee, tea and cocoa certification programmes and manages traceability for certified palm oil. In September 2008, UTZ joined the ISEAL Alliance as an associate member and in recent months has been working hard towards full compliance with the ISEAL Code of Good Practice for Setting Social and Environmental Standards. In applying these internationally recognised guidelines for credible ecolabels, UTZ now joins the ranks of Fairtrade, the Rainforest Alliance, IFOAM and others.
“We are proud of becoming a full ISEAL member” said Executive Director Juliette Caulkins, “It is recognition for all the effort we’ve made to ensure our organization more robust, credible, transparent and accessible. The ISEAL Code is an independent assurance of the credibility of our standard. Working with other like-minded organisations in the ISEAL Alliance will strengthen us in delivering our sustainability goals.”
In order to meet the criteria of the ISEAL Standard-Setting Code, UTZ CERTIFIED guarantees a balanced stakeholder participation process when developing its standards, commits to transparency and open processes and ensures that the requirements of its standards contribute to achieving its objectives.
Compliance with the ISEAL Code was the last step for UTZ CERTIFIED to achieving full membership in the ISEAL Alliance. “UTZ are exemplary in the proactive and responsive way they communicate and collaborate with the ISEAL Alliance and its members” said ISEAL Membership Manager David Gould “They are open, clear, and friendly, and they make things happen!”
