People 4 Earth – ISEAL’s newest Associate Member

People 4 Earth joins the WWF Aquaculture Dialogues, the World Fair Trade Organization and the Alliance for Water Stewardship as an associate member of the ISEAL Alliance.

Transparency is the key to the success of any standard. It’s what ensures that consumers are confident about the choices they make and that they can be certain of the beneficial impact made at each step in the chain that runs from producer to shop.

Our newest associate member believes that transparency is the key to motivating business and the consumer. People 4 Earth is an People 4 Earth is an independently funded non-profit organisation whose sustainability standard encompasses all aspects of sustainability (both social and environmental) throughout the entire product chain. Their aim is to help businesses develop better products and services that clearly show to the consumer that they are sustainable and can be trusted.

The People 4 Earth standard is community owned and driven, supported by and further developed by all stakeholders - businesses, consumers, NGOs and governments. People 4 Earth are also developing a platform (web, education, regulation guidance) that will be a forum for government, NGO, consumers and businesses.

“Membership of ISEAL not only gives us better coordination with peer members” says Anneke Sipkens, CEO of People 4 Earth “but it also delivers a strong representation of our common interests in governmental and inter-governmental fora.”

As an associate member of ISEAL, People 4 Earth now has the responsibility to meet ISEAL’s Code of Good Practice for Setting Social and Environmental Standards by 2011. Compliance with the code is the final step to establishing People 4 Earth as a credible partner for sustainability.

People 4 Earth was founded in 2008 to establish a global sustainability standard for trusted goods and services.
