ISEAL Alliance

The Emerging Initiatives programme of the ISEAL Alliance provides an opportunity for social and environmental standards and conformity assessment organisations to build on existing knowledge and experiences. By learning from others, emerging initiatives will be in a better position to establish credible and effective programmes. Credible programmes are more likely to be taken seriously by stakeholders, recognised and supported by governments and industry, and have real impacts on the ground.

Module 2: Standard-Setting

Standards are the backbone of any social and/or environmental certification system. The content of the standard determines the type of social and/or environmental impacts that the initiative will have. It also determines how easy it is to comply with the standard, in terms of both cost and complexity.
