E029 Emerging Initiatives Module 6: Engaging Stakeholders
07 February 2008Official ISEAL Document
The Emerging Initiatives programme of the ISEAL Alliance provides an opportunity for social and environmental standards and conformity assessment organisations to build on existing knowledge and experiences. By learning from others, emerging initiatives will be in a better position to establish credible and effective programmes. Credible programmes are more likely to be taken seriously by stakeholders, recognised and supported by governments and industry, and have real impacts on the ground.
Module 6: Engaging Stakeholders
Social and environmental standards affect a broad range of people across multiple sectors including business, civil society and government. Stakeholder engagement is the formal and informal ways that we communicate and collaborate with the people whom our standards affect. Meaningful multi-stakeholder processes are the foundation of a standard’s legitimacy and credibility.
