E032 Emerging Initiatives Module 9: Trademarks and Labelling

07 November 2007Official ISEAL Document

The Emerging Initiatives programme of the ISEAL Alliance provides an opportunity for social and environmental standards and conformity assessment organisations to build on existing knowledge and experiences. By learning from others, emerging initiatives will be in a better position to establish credible and effective programmes. Credible programmes are more likely to be taken seriously by stakeholders, recognised and supported by governments and industry, and have real impacts on the ground.

Module 9: Trademarks and Labelling

Voluntary certification relies on market forces to bring about positive social and environmental change. A product label or trademark is the public face of the certification system. Ensuring that there is a system in place to guarantee the continuing credibility and integrity of the trademark is paramount.
