Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International eV (FLO eV) unites the producer-, market-and business-facing activities within the Fairtrade Labelling system. FLO eV develops the Fairtrade Standards; promotes the empowerment of Fairtrade-certified producers by supporting them in gaining and maintaining Fairtrade Certification and capitalizing on market opportunities; and facilitates global Fairtrade markets, to optimize benefits for producers.
OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE:
The Data Analyst and Data Administrator plays an important role in the management and analysis of information flows and development of systems application solutions, both within FLO and working with the wider Fairtrade system. The postholder will also develop, maintain and oversee the implementation of the Fairtrade Product Classification system, an important aspect of the successful implementation of the Fairtrade Information Management System (IMS), as well as more broadly support the implementation of IMS and the related FLO eV Information System (eVIS).
PRINCIPAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Core responsibilities
- Perform high quality, timely and relevant data and business analysis activities
- Play a key role in the data management and systems application development activities (IMS, eVIS and more widely) of FLO eV
- Develop, maintain and oversee the implementation of the Fairtrade Product Classification system.
Specific tasks
- Create timely and relevant business analysis reports, and provide high quality regular and ad hoc business intelligence and statistical analysis as required in collaboration with the Business Analysis and Systems Application Development Manager
- Identify and communicate business opportunities and challenges through insightful business and statistical analysis in collaboration with the Business Analysis and Systems Application Development Manager
- Act as the principal data owner (Data Steward) for all FLO eV data, identifying and resolving issues of data availability and data quality
- Implement and configure the IMS / eVIS system in collaboration with the Business Analysis and Systems Application Development Manager, specifically:
- Assisting the FLO departments to understand and implement data harmonization and data migration activities
- Managing FLO eV data migration activities
- Supporting the FLO-CERT data migration activities
- Working with stakeholders to identify required changes, communicating any necessary changes as appropriate
- Supporting the implementation of FLO eV data governance processes
- Provide support, training and guidelines to the system users
- Training the trainers of the new system
- Providing support to the IMS governance structures (Steering Committee, Executive Advisory Group, Data Governance Committee and other working groups)
- Develop, maintain and oversee the implementation of the Fairtrade Product Classification system
- Identify opportunities to improve data management and information systems as an advanced user
- Identify data management and systems application needs, and work with departments to develop appropriate, coordinated, cost effective solutions.
- Undertake such other tasks as are considered necessary by the Finance Director and are consistent with the level and responsibilities of this post.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Skills and experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of data management and systems application implementation, including competence and creativity in analyzing and designing business processes and systems
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of data and/or business analysis
- Demonstrated analytical and information system management skills, including a thorough understanding of databases
- Good experience of training and supporting users to understand and use effectively new systems applications and business processes
- Understanding of SQL languages
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Access, Excel, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of economics and computing science advantageous
- Fluency in English Personal qualities:
- Ability to work in a multi-stakeholder working environment
- Ability to work independently, taking decisions and/or making recommendations as appropriate
- Understanding of and commitment to the aims of the Fairtrade system
- Excellent organizational and communications skills
- Good relationship building skills
- Passion for precision, consistency, clarity and simplicity
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- Full time position
- Position based in FLO e.V. office in Bonn, Germany
- The working language is English
- Gross Salary: 2,512.00 Euros per month
- 30 days holidays for full time position
- Some travel may be required
