Vidya is ISEAL's Manager, Impacts

As Manager for ISEAL's Impacts Programme, I lead our engagement with the research community to promote and learn from credible, relevant external research on the impacts and effectiveness of sustainability standards and communicate such research effectively. I am also leading on evaluations of the ISEAL Impacts and Assurance Codes as well as other internal evaluation projects as part of ISEAL's own organisational M&E. I am also responsible for other specific areas of work within our Demonstrating and Improving Poverty Impacts (DIPI) project, Collective Reporting efforts with ISEAL members and support our work to improve the impacts of sustainability standards.

Before ISEAL...

I worked for over three years as Senior Research and Impact Manager at the Fairtrade Foundation - the UK arm of the global Fairtrade system. During this time, I was the organisational lead on all impact research and learning while providing strategic support to impact communications and other areas of the Foundation's work in the UK. I was also an integral member of Fairtrade International's MEL team that included work on developing Fairtrade's Theory of Change, global MEL Strategy and managing several research and evaluation projects. Prior to Fairtrade, I worked for over four years with EQUATIONS (Equitable Tourism Options), a sustainable tourism research and advocacy organisation based in Bangalore, India as the lead of their Globalisation Impacts Programme. My academic qualifications include an MA in Economics from India and an M Phil in Development Studies from the University of Oxford, which is what brought me to the UK in 2009. As a development researcher, I bring extensive fieldwork experience in South Asia and more recently through Fairtrade in Central America and Eastern / Southern Africa.
