As the global regulatory landscape around human rights and environmental due diligence continues to evolve, and sustainability systems respond, auditors must be fully equipped with the skills and knowledge to address these new requirements effectively.
To address this need, Global Standard (GOTS), in partnership with UpRights, analysed best practices to develop a continuous learning policy and curriculum for GOTS auditors which served as the foundation for a comprehensive training programme.
A training pilot saw auditors across 11 countries learn about GOTS' due diligence criteria, practice advanced auditing and discuss important topics like workplace pressures, gender issues and cultural awareness. Feedback was actively sought from participants to ensure improvement of the training, ensuring that the training content was practical, relevant, and responsive to the needs of auditors.
By strengthening auditors’ capacity to identify and address human rights, social, and environmental risks, this initiative aimed to promote more responsible practices throughout the textile supply chain.
