ISEAL is recruiting a new Board Chair

ISEAL is looking for a new Chair to steer its Board of Directors. The Board Chair is a great role for someone with a strong commitment to ISEAL’s mission, a passion for Board effectiveness, and broad international experience.

This is an exciting time for ISEAL, as we have been successfully expanding activities under our current strategy. We have a growing and committed membership, strong staff team, and dedicated Board that includes member representatives and external stakeholders who have a strong understanding of the world of sustainability systems and the sustainability agenda.

The Board is responsible for guiding the strategic direction of ISEAL’s work and overseeing the delivery of its key objectives: sustainability systems and their partners to deliver scalable solutions to global sustainability challenges; and credible systems, claims and communications to sit at the heart of market-based sustainability solutions.

The Board Chair will provide strategic leadership, ensure effective governance and build a strong working relationship with the Executive Director. The role of Board Chair requires a commitment of one to two days per month and serves a term of three years, with the possibility of re-election and maximum of two consecutive terms.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building relationships and successfully influencing decision-makers, particularly in a multi-stakeholder environment. This includes working with government and multi-lateral policy makers, NGOs, and businesses. UK Governance experience and knowledge of membership organisations would be added advantages. Please see the person specification for a full list of required and desirable skills, competencies and attributes.

ISEAL highly values diversity and supports the appointments of diverse candidates to the Board, believing strongly that having a chair and directors with varied characteristics, skills and experiences contributes to balanced and effective governance.
